What to do if your records community is the same conversations over and over
Change practice.
We only talk about problems until they're solved.
Then we generally stop talking about them.
If your records community is the same conversations over and over, it's likely because nothing about practice has changed.
So the problems haven't gone away.
The crazy thing, is that the more people I talk to, the more I realise that about 90% of the problems we face, are the same.
And we're all working on them independently.
So we have only one set of mistakes to learn from.
And the only practice experiments we can learn from are the ones we do ourselves.
Often all a problem needs is a small group of motivated people who are prepared to focus on the problem and grind away at it.
It's hard to keep a large group focused, but when you get it right, your learning can increase dramatically.
2 person group = twice the learning.
5 person group = 5x the learning
The only question left after that, is who is going to get the group together?
A small tip - the thing I've found, is that the first mover generally gets to choose what the group focuses on first.
