Unifying records and data - how to start
Personally, I feel like we all need to start by remembering why we're here.
Why to we make a record? (ie. record data)
1. We need to remember something.
2. We need someone else to know something.
That's it.
We start by remembering that - because everything else is really window dressing.
Once we've made a record (recorded some data), all we really need to know after that is whether we can trust the data (that has been recorded), and whether it's of a quality level that can produce the results that we and our organisations need.
We have lots of tools and techniques that we use to make ourselves comfortable that we know these things.
But we have to remember, that we made the tools and techniques up.
And if we make up different ways
Or adopt techniques from other disciplines.
The thing that actually matters is that we can remember things, communicate them, trust the memories and communications, and use them to produce results that are good for us, our communities and our organisations.
