The missing models in records management that might explain why IT get adoption.

This missing models are adoption models.

When I read IT papers, I'm constantly struck by the usage of adoption models.

When I read records papers, I never see them.

What do we struggle with?

Adoption.

Some might think these things are related.

Good test -

Google “Records management adoption model.”

You get no models for adoption (I got one result that had "factors influencing" in the title).

Google “Records adoption model.”

You’ll get a page and a half of adoption models focused on health records - then nothing.

Google “Technology adoption model.”

Five pages down and it's still articles about technology adoption models.

Based on this (somewhat tenuous) evidence, we could draw the conclusion that IT care very much about adoption.
