How to know if your organisation wants what you're selling in records
There's only really one way that you can know your organisation wants what you're selling in records.
The term everyone uses is "skin in the game."
If people won't put skin in the game, you're not solving a problem that they care about.
You'll know when you've got a problem they care about - because you'll be able to say things like "we don't have budget to do that" - and other parts of the organisation will be prepared to commit resources to help you get it done.
If they aren't, they don't care enough about whatever problem you're solving to commit to it.
It's a sign that you're working on a problem that only records cares about - and that's OK, if you can get the funding.
When your organisation wants what you're selling, they'll buy it - with money.
If they won't give you the money - you should probably keep shopping for a better problem to solve.
